CUBITAINER® Assembly Process and Product Update – Initial Notification

Dear Customer:

Please allow us to formally notify you, with this letter, of an upcoming project being undertaken in our Assembled CUBITAINER® department.

In an effort to improve the reliability of our Assembled CUBITAINER® products, we are in the initial stages of designing and installing NEW process equipment on our assembly lines in Newark, DE.

In conjunction with this installation, we have consulted with corrugated industry experts to develop some improvements to the outer cartons used for Assembled CUBITAINER® products. Although outer cartons may change, please be assured that the interior CUBITAINER® bladder will remain unchanged with this project.

While the finished product will look similar to our current Assembled CUBES®, some aspects of the carton are being modified. The project aims to provide a superior Assembled CUBITIANER® through the implementation of six primary changes to the final product, some functional and visible while others are a part of the process:

Current Feature Proposed New Feature Benefit(s)
Top Handle Side holes and/or top hole Ergonomic improvement, improved seal on top flaps
Interlocking minor flaps Provide structure/support during sealing
Dust cover Integral hinged corrugated cover Improved fit, delivery/storage efficiency
Cold Glue Hot Glue Wider temperature tolerance, defect reduction
Form from folded flat Form from flat sheet Stronger glue joint, improved flap sealing, improved squaring
Packaging Tray Slip Sheet Process flow and handling improvements

This project includes a complete qualification plan. All inner dimensions will remain the same as those on current cartons. Before market release, all tested parameters, such as burst strength, will be proven to be equivalent or superior to current assembled CUBITAINER® results.

There are some key exclusions to this project scope: Assembled CUBITAINER® products shipping from our Reno, NV facility remain unchanged. CUBITAINER® products assembled using “crash-lock” (glue-less) cartons will be excluded at this time, although may change at a later date.

Please continue without changes to your ordering process until notified. Product changes will be made in stages as new dies become qualified on the new process machinery and final material test results are proven. In late calendar 2017, we reach the material testing stages of this project. At that time, once the new equipment has been installed and verified, our representatives will be in contact with detail on sample availability and part number conversion.

This is the initial announcement of this project, and more detail and additional information will be provided on our website as we continue. You are welcome to peruse our internal PCN (Part Change Notice) form, which is attached for your records. This document will be updated as necessary on www.hedwin.com/resources and we encourage you to check there often.

As we are still in initial planning stages, we request your feedback and questions, so that we are best informed to represent your needs as implementation progresses. Please contact us using our contact information found in the PCN attached, at [email protected] or via phone at 800.890.1183 with your thoughts and needs related to this project.

We thank you for your continued business and support of the Hedwin Division of Zacros America. We look forward to using these changes to serve you better.

Best regards,

Clarification of CUB5055 and CUB9099 Product Release

Hello CUBITAINER® customer –

Hopefully, you’re well-informed and ready for the introduction of the new enhanced neck and ring coming to our standard 20L CUBITAINER®.  You’ve previously ordered this product as CUB9088.

We’re pleased to let you know that we have achieved final qualification on the new CUBITAINER® which will replace the CUB9088.    Our intent is to completely replace CUB9088 with CUB9099.

However, as a precautionary step, we are releasing TODAY (August 30th) an interim part number, CUB5055.  This distinct part number will ensure stricter inventory control as we finalize the UN registration process with the new CUBE® design.   The CUB5055 part is completely equal to the CUB9099, with the exception that the CUB5055 is designated specifically for NON-UN applications.   Once we have the UN registrations completed, the CUB5055 will be rendered obsolete and the CUB9099 will become the permanent part number for ALL standard 20L CUBITAINER® product.

Our VP of Quality, Mary Dodds, has issued the attached statement which further explains the situation.

We are able to accept and begin filling orders for the CUB5055 today, and working for conversion to the CUB9099 as quickly as possible.

As always, we welcome your questions and feedback on this change.  Feel free to get in touch with us at [email protected] or 800.890.1183.

Best regards,

The Sales Team at the Hedwin Division of Zacros America

Announcing exciting enhancement to CUBITAINER® neck sealing

Dear customer –

We are pleased to introduce to you an exciting new enhancement to the attachment and seal at the neck of our CUBITAINER® products.   This enhancement will be rolling out first with our standard 20 Liter/5 Gallon products in July 2017, then to 10 Liter/2.5 Gallon products, before extension to the rest of our CUBITAINER® products soon.

Some of our largest customers, with the most demanding and regulated applications, have already been using this enhanced neck with great success.

CUBITAINER® is already one of the most robust and trustworthy flexible packages on the market today, and with this enhancement to sealing properties, it becomes even more reliable.

Please read through the following white paper, and feel free to get in touch with any questions you may have.

You can also find this white paper on our website under “Resources” if you need to refer to it in the future.

Have a terrific afternoon!

Best regards,

The Sales Team at the Hedwin Division of Zacros America

Price Increase Effective July 15, 2017

Dear Valued Customer –

Thank you for your ongoing business relationship with the Hedwin Division of Zacros America.

Since May of 2016, we have held our prices constant.  Unfortunately, changes in resin and corrugated pricing have continued to increase, and we must now pass on these increases to our customers.

In evaluating this material increase, we have considered the published indices for each commodity.

Quarterly resin indices for LDPE and LLDPE, specifically the Chemical Data Index (CDI), have increased as much as $0.117 per pound since our last increase, which was based on the 1Q2016 marker.   We have been able to absorb a bit of the costs, and at this time are passing on a $0.065 per pound resin increase.

Linerboard has increased by $90 per ton over the past year, or 14.6%, according to the Pulp and Paper Index (PPI).   Corrugated increases have a far larger impact on our Assembled CUBITAINER® products than on our Knocked-Down CUBITAINER® and accessory products.

Effective July 15th 2017 the Hedwin Division of Zacros America will increase prices for our CUBITAINER® product lines as outlined above.

Note:  If you currently have a signed sales agreement with Zacros America/Hedwin Division, this particular price increase will be implemented per the terms of our negotiated sales agreement.  If this is the case, this letter is for informational purposes only.

All orders will be priced using the price in effect on the day the order was received.

Please contact your Zacros America Hedwin Division Customer Service Representative should you have any questions regarding this price increase announcement.
