Case Study #1:
When a leading manufacturer and marketer of scoopable cat litter went looking for
a fresh new packaging concept that would be cost effective, convenient to use,
and had shelf appeal, they chose Hedwin's Cube® Insert.
The package consisted of a 5 Gallon/20 Liter Cube® Insert featuring a 63mm
screwcap opening; a molded carrying handle; and side panels that accommodated
large, attractive product labels on opposing sides. Both labels are applied by
Hedwin, leaving only the task of filling and capping to the client's production
operations. The container's molded handle offers pet owners a safe, easy and
convenient way to move the package about and to pour out contents. Finished
product is stacked four high and sold directly off its own shipping pallet at
popular "club store" outlets located throughout North America.
The Cube® concept immediately provided package source reduction advantages to
retail buyers who found the used and empty Cube® package easy to condense and
toss in the trash without having to deal with the bulk and space consuming
aspects of other litter containers such as pails and bottles. The package also
met the expectations of concerned citizens seeking ways to aid their communities
in ongoing environmental efforts. This value-added packaging concept for cat
litter also came without a premium in packaging costs as the new Cube® packaging
concept was a money-saver for the manufacturer from the start!
