PAYLINER® Provides Greater Safety, Productivity, & Quality for the Cosmetics Industry

Hedwin Division of Zacros America, Inc.’s PAYLINER® replaced corrugated boxes lined with poly bags to effectively reduce employee injuries, reduce filling line down time, reduce product loss, and reduce quality complaints.

One Hedwin Division of Zacros America, Inc. customer was packaging bulk lipstick in what the industry referred to as ‘flats’. This was a corrugated box that was lined with a poly bag. The lipstick was packaged in ‘flats’ for the purpose of bulk storage until a specific color was required by manufacturing to produce lipstick ‘bullets’. Manufacturing would attempt to remove the bulk lipstick from the polybag so that it could be melted down in the heated pots that supply melted lipstick to the filling line. The hardened lipstick would stick in the folds of the bag, and would normally need to be cut away from the bag by the line operator with a safety knife. Many times small slivers of poly would remain in the hardened wax when it was melted in the pot, and the slivers would accumulate in the supply lines causing blockages that would stop the flow of lipstick. Filling lines would then need to be shut down in order to clear the lines.

Hedwin Division of Zacros America, Inc. presented this customer with a 3.5 gallon PAYLINER® solution. The bulk lipstick is now poured into a 3.5 gal. metal bucket that is lined with a Hedwin Division of Zacros America, Inc. HDPE PAYLINER®. The bucket is topped off with a Hedwin Division of Zacros America, Inc. LDPE snap on poly lid, and the lid is secured with a metal locking band. The liner that is filled with bulk lipstick is removed from the bucket, and turned upside down on a side tray that is a part of the melting pot. The liner is lifted, and the lipstick slides out of the liner onto the tray. An arm is then used to move the lipstick from the tray into the pot. The metal pail and locking ring are reused along with a new PAYLINER®, and snap on poly lid.
